Christmas Past!

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone already and we are rushing head first into 2013! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas full of blessings and friendship and happiness!

I know that 2013 is going to be an awesome year, remember happiness is very often a choice we can make!

Christmas Cheer

I love Christmas decorations.  Every year, I add something new to a growing collection.  This year, I managed to find some sweet and quirky Christmas decorations from Makro of all places.   I thought I would share my finds:

Market Day

On Saturday, my daughter and I decided to do the rounds of the Durban Christmas markets.  We started off at the always wonderful I Heart Market where we had a yummy breakfast.  My daughter had a Christmas waffle and I had a roll with salami, brie and pesto...Yum!!

We strolled around for a while and drooled over all the goodies on offer before heading off to the Green with Envy Christmas fair.  Green with Envy is a nursery on Vause road and it was my first ever visit there!  The Christmas fair was a delight and I picked up some super cute Christmas decorations.

Finally, we stopped in at the KZNSA Buzzart Craft and Gift Fair.  All in all, it was a lovely morning out full of inspiration!  When I got home, I put that inspiration to good use and started designing two brand new stitchery patterns which I will unveil in the New Year.  Stay tuned:)

PS:  Although the Green with Envy fair is over, you can catch the last I Heart Market for the year this week Saturday (17/12) at Moses Mabhida Stadium.  The KZNSA Buzzart fair runs until the 8^th of January.

A Quick & Easy Gift Idea

For the Masterpiecers Christmas party, I spoilt everyone with a special Christmas Nearly Nothing.   For the occasion, I prettied up the usual Nearly Nothing packaging to make it more festive!  When I saw how wonderfully they turned out, I decided to share this nifty gift idea with everyone.

Here’s what you do...

Take your normal Nearly Nothing, and tie some raffia around it like a package.   I used Red and Natural to keep with the theme.

Then, make yourself some little labels.  For mine, I printed a tiny photo of the Nearly Nothing and glued it to a heart shaped cut-out.

Attach your labels to the raffia and Viola!  A quick and easy Christmas gift!!

Voila!

These little Nearly Nothing packages would make great stocking fillers for the quilter in your life.  Or, add them to your kids stash to encourage them  to take up a new hobby:)

Masterpiecers Christmas Party

On Saturday my local quilting group Masterpiecers, celebrated the end of 2011 with a scrumptious Christmas lunch. Everyone pitched in and we ended up with a wonderful spread.  Well done ladies!!

We each brought a gift and the table was groaning under the weight of everyones generosity.  They were handed out via a game amidst much hilarity and glee.

Gifts Galore!

Our row by row quilts that were a Masterpiecers project for the year looked magnificent - well done to everyone who got them finished!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Can you believe that it is December already?  Me neither!  This year has flown by and this little blog has been officially up and running for a month and a day already.

In the spirit of Christmas, I thought I would feature a few of my favourite Peppa-Jo Christmas patterns.

First up is the Love, Peace and Joy Wall Hanging.  A nice sentiment for the Christmas season and a timeless addition to your Christmas decorations.  What’s really great about this one is that, if you choose the right colours, you can keep it up all year round.  Decorating with words is a really trendy and interesting way to enhance any room in the house.  I also have a smaller version of this pattern, only featuring the word Joy.

Keeping with the theme of words, is the Love, Peace and Joy Nearly Nothings.  As you can see in the photo, I made all three and then joined them up to make a little swag which you can hang just about anywhere.  And again, if you pick the right colours, this decoration can last through the year:)

Next up is the Dishy Dish Cloths pattern.  This is a simple way to make a run-of-the-mill dish cloth into a festive addition for the kitchen.  This also makes a great gift!!

And finally, there is a selection of my favourite Christmas nearly Nothings.  What’s great about the Nearly Nothings is their versatility!  You can turn them into just about anything...cards, labels, coasters!  And, they are quick to make so there is still time to get one done before Christmas.
