Goodbye South Africa......hello France!

The title of this post says it all.  The time has come for us to leave, I thought it was never going to arrive, but arrive it has!

I am not sure how long it will take before I get things up and running there but until then, stay well, be happy and always try and see the silver lining to any of your dark clouds.

I will leave you with this awesome Quiltable Quote.....

"Love is more important than anything else.
It is what ties everything completely
                                                       TOGETHER"

                                                                                      Colossians 3:14

Take care

Erica

Keeping busy....

My son gave me an awesome book last Christmas, Quilt & Sew Country Style by Anne-Pia Godske Rasmussen, published by Search Press. Find it, its worth it!!! I have had great fun as you can see.

Some cats.....

A bird to brighten my daughter's desk at work....

And rooster to crow over her new kitchen...

(sorry about the dark photo below)

And another bird for a friend's birthday....

And I haven't even made half of her beautiful goodies.

Quiltable Quotes

                                                           "You are the finest,
                                                            loveliest, tenderest,
and most beautiful person I have ever known -
                                                               and even that
                                                          is an understatement."

                                                                                                    F. Scott Fitzgerald

So romantic.....

More this and some of that.....

As  I said a post or two ago, I have been dabbling in felt, think I may be getting the hang of it!  I found this really cute little fox bookmark in Craft Beautiful magazine together with the various "ingredients" needed to make it.  I decided to give it a try.

This is the magazine it came from. Chock full of all sorts of goodies to make!

But then, I had to have my fabric fix.  It just feels so 'right' in my hands, what can I say.....

It is not good to have all your stuff packed away!!!

Quiltable quotes

I don't know who to attribute the design to, I wish I did as I love it....the words of course, which I also love, are from the Bible.

This and that

Keeping busy while apart from my husband has not proved to be a problem.  I am so grateful that I have a a quilting passion that has helped pass the lonely hours.

I have taken this time to design a new quilt pattern (more on that later) and try my hand at some new things, some of them completely out of my comfort zone.  Its been fun and a great learning experience!!

This is one of them!  I have worked very little with felt, so the subject matter (!) and the medium were new to me!

A Day of the Dead bookmark for a skull mad colleague

Got a lot to learn about felt.........  (Not taken with my new camera as you can see!)

Quiltable Quotes

"Remember this,
that very little is needed to make a
happy life"

How true is this, we just never seem to remember it...!

Fellowship of the Flowers

As I mentioned a post or two ago, I LOVE Michele May's blog, The Raspberry Rabbits.  This is one of the reasons I do.... Fellowship of the Flowers.

The Rasberry Rabbits

I have been following this series of hers this year and I have to say, I cant wait every month for her new project to come out!  They are all fun, so pretty and incredibly inspiring!

Although I haven't been able to keep the pace and do all of them, I have made two of the candle holders as gifts. I plan on doing the rest sometime soon. My photography skills leave a lot to be desired, But take a look....

This blue one was for a dear friend, and this pink one for my sister-in-law as a house warming gift. Sorry, no details on this one!

You can see all her projects on my Pintrest page 'Fellowship of the Flowers' but you should go and check out her blog as well, you won't be disappointed and if you love what you see, you can join the Fellowship of the Flowers any time this year! -www.theraspberryrabbits.com.

An Extraordinary Journey

One of my very favorite bloggers of all time is Michelle May of The Raspberry Rabbits.  I love her work and already have her first book, 'Briarside Lane', which I treasure very much.

When I heard her second book, 'Fabled Fusions', was due out last year in October, I quickly pre-ordered it to make sure I got it come hell or high water!

She was due to post them out at the beginning of October which she duly did.  When I hadn't received my copy by the end of November, I contacted her to find out if she had some kind of a tracking number so that I could try and find out what stage of it's journey it was on..... Michele was horrified to find out I hadn't received it yet as by this time it had been received all over the world by her other customers.

We decided to give until after Christmas to see if it was just the 'Seasonal Post' clog and the take it from there.

To cut a long story short, it still hadn't arrived by Christmas and Michelle, being the amazing person she is, made sure another copy was winging its way to me on the 27 December. A whole month later on 27 January 2014 my book finally arrived!  Imagine my complete astonishment to discover that it was the first book, the one that had gone astray! Four months later it had finally arrived.

Sadly to this day, the second book has still not arrived!

If you look carefully you can see the postal date!

The book is amazing and the projects are sensational.  Do yourselves a favour and visit her blog, the raspberryrabbits.blogspot.com. you won't be disappointed

Congratulations Michelle!

Mug Rug Swap

Last year I joined up for the Quilting Gallery"s 'Fall Inspired Mug Rug Swap'  We had to make 2 mug rugs inspired by fall, be it colours or images, that was up to us!

I was paired with Alisa in Taiwan.  What fun, we exchanged emails and all sorts of other info and away we went! In my rush of selling house, moving and my husband leaving, I neglected to take decent photos of the ones I sent her... the joys of getting old ;)!

Here are the ones she sent me which are lovely!!

The wonderful thing about getting two is that now I have one next to my sewing chair in the lounge....

And the other one next to my computer....

Not only did she send these two beauties, I got some little 'extras' as well. Her blog is worth a visit for sure.... astitchinbetween.blogspot.com.

  Thanks Alisa.
